Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a professional, organized, and personable Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and providing basic customer service to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for our patients. Responsibilities:

• Schedule patient appointments:

  • Manage and maintain appointment calendars for physicians and other medical staff.
  • Accurately schedule appointments for patients and guide patients throughout to ensure they have completed all necessary items prior to arriving to the dental offices.
  • Confirm appointments and send reminders to patients as necessary.
  • Reschedule appointments and communicate changes with patients and medical staff.

• Verify insurance coverage:

  • Obtain and review insurance information from patients or their representatives.
  • Validate insurance eligibility and coverage for appointments and procedures.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers to resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Update and maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record system.

• Provide basic customer service:

  • Address patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • De-escalate situations involving dissatisfied customers, offering patient assistance and support.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential patient information with discretion and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

• General administrative tasks:

  • Answer phone calls and emails, providing information and assistance as needed.
  • Perform clerical tasks, including filing, data entry, and managing patient records.
  • Collect co-payments and process payments from patients as required.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks and projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in healthcare administration and/or associate degree preferred.

• At least 2 years of experience in a medical receptionist, administrative, or customer service role in a healthcare setting. Prior experience in dental office administration and insurance verification is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance, and healthcare processes is preferred.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record systems.
