Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing various month-end closing processes for the communities including analysis of financial results, as well as execution along with their Accounting Team of the consolidated SME area close processes. You will work closely with the Accounting Operations team members in ensuring financial records are maintained in accordance with US GAAP. The accountant must possess a natural leadership style, great sense of humor, positive attitude, and drive for excellence. He/she must have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and/or review standard monthly journal entries.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly reconciliations and related workpapers.
  • Detailed review and analysis of community-level income statements prepared by the corporate accountants.
  • Detailed review of community-level balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the corporate accountants, including cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets and accrued liabilities.
  • In charge of specific SME areas for the monthly close and reporting of consolidated balance sheet and income statement level accountants; and
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with US GAAP
  • Assist the Accounting team and Internal Audit with compliance related matters including year-end audit support and compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX)
  • Actively engage in the design and conduct trainings regarding day-to-day accounting related matters and other technical matters to the corporate accountants or to operations personnel
  • Propose and execute process improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Assist tax department on certain tax provision and compliance matters.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years (or more) of relevant experience in accounting operations and/or audit
  • Expert knowledge on US GAAP.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Prior experience supervising and/or developing staff is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Workday (nice to have).
