We are looking for a knowledgeable and dedicated DOT Specialist to help us maintain strict adherence to Department of Transportation regulations and support our logistics, fleet management and market operations teams.

Job Overview:
The DOT Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s fleet operations comply with all federal and state regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation. This role includes maintaining driver and vehicle records, coordinating compliance audits, facilitating training, and ensuring that all documentation and reporting requirements are met. The DOT Specialist will work closely with management, drivers, and safety teams to ensure smooth and compliant operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure all company transportation operations comply with federal and state DOT regulations, including driver licensing, vehicle maintenance, safety standards, and hours of service compliance.
  • Driver Records Management: Maintain up-to-date driver records, including license renewals, medical certifications, drug and alcohol testing results, and driver training.
  • Vehicle Compliance: Oversee fleet maintenance and inspection schedules to ensure all vehicles meet DOT safety requirements.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and submit DOT-required documentation, such as Hours of Service (HOS) logs, fuel tax reports, and other compliance documents.
  • Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in DOT regulations and ensure the company’s practices and policies are updated to reflect new requirements.
  • Training & Education: Develop and implement training programs to ensure drivers and staff are aware of and adhere to DOT safety regulations, compliance procedures, and industry best practices.
  • Audit Preparation & Support: Prepare for and participate in DOT audits and inspections, ensuring all records and documentation are complete and available. Address any compliance issues identified during audits.
  • Incident Management: Assist in the investigation and reporting of transportation-related incidents, including accidents, ensuring compliance with DOT reporting requirements.
  • Safety & Risk Management: Work with the safety team to ensure that all transportation-related safety practices are followed, identifying and mitigating potential risks.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in transportation, logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in DOT compliance, transportation management, or a similar administrative role.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state DOT regulations, including driver qualification, vehicle maintenance, safety compliance, and hours of service.
  • Knowledge of DOT and regulatory compliance or transportation and logistics management
  • Previous experience in a DOT administration or transportation compliance role is highly preferred.
